GLOBAL MEDIA LITERACY PROJECT

Please create pages, invite others to use the wiki, and enjoy these resources.

Imagine the Possibilities

This website documents an innovative collaboration between educators at the Roberts Elementary School, the Media Education Lab at Temple University, and educators in the Middle East. We hope that our university-community collaboration can build mutual understanding -- and we hope promote a better understanding of the Arab world by focusing on the development of critical thinking and communication skills, with a special focus on exploration of mass media, technology, popular culture and society.

Projects and Activities

We wanted to explore the question of stereotypes of the Middle East. See the lessons and activities that we implemented with students in Grades 3 and 4.

Check out the lessons we're developing for the use of Santa Claus in Baghdad, a film created by Raouf Zaki.

Let's created pages that put descriptions of other Roberts Elementary activities here, too.

Learning Goals

We can identify goals for participating elementary school students and goals for the university students.  We may even want to consider personal and professional goals for ourselves as educators.  Let's brainstorm some possible goals here.

Build on the Shoulders of Giants

Some educators have been exploring cross-cultural approaches with media and technology.  Let's share the cool ideas we find online here.
